Internet Connection Information
In this page, we will show you the variables that a typical internet server can detect about you and your internet connection. We do not like to spy on people, but the browser and server vendors that power the Internet's network of computers include all these facilities as standard. We are letting you know what information you are leaking!
The most important variables are:
What is my IP address? Your IP address is like a telephone number. It is unique to you at the time of internet access, and it means that your communications can be traced physically back to you. If you have a fixed IP address or access from work or a corporate building, your IP address will mean that your employer or organisation can be identified!
Your browser client or agent type reveals what operating system you are typically running, what web browser you use, how well it is patched or sevice packed (i.e. what security vunerabilities you may have), and in some cases who your ISP are or the identity of your employer or organisation.
